I praise the Lord for my many blessings, including my family and their involvement in this mission with me. And while I have “my work”, we as Christians have “all of our” work to do. None of us are exempt from the great commission mandate and disciple-making imperatives. We all have a role to play, and while it is true that there are “senders” and “goers” even those who “send” are still commissioned to “go” to their neighbors and friends and share the Gospel as well.
And so, my family has been an invaluable part in this ministry. In fact, recently we had a family join our co-op in large part due to the relationship one of my daughter’s had made with some other girls from Afghanistan. It’s amazing to watch!
Through this friendship, they want to go to various things and through their friendship, a new friendship has started with between their family and ours. Their daughters loved “Asian” people and culture, and seeing our daughter as “Asian” was a bridge to friendship. Now they greet each other with a hug and talk and laugh together.
We don’t have to go far (distance) wise to befriend and reach out to others from around the world. God is good, and this is a privilege that we have. However, we do have to go outside of our comfort zone to reach into the lives of others to show the love of Jesus.
I want to challenge and encourage you – how are you going outside of your comfort zone to love others and be a light for Jesus?
