When you think of a Chinese Christian conference, you typically think of this as an outreach and encouragement to the Chinese, of course. However, for this year’s conference, we were blessed to have two friends join us from Japan and attend the English part of the conference and learn of the amazing love of God and what it means to be a Christian.
For 4 days, we were blessed by many different speakers as both the English and the Chinese sides heard many Biblically solid messages from the Word of God. From a missionary to a tribal group to urban missionaries to Chinese church pastors, the Word of God was faithfully proclaimed. Praise God!
As the conference progressed, we touched base with our friends and asked how they enjoyed it. One of them shared how they really enjoyed learning more about Christianity and was amazed at how this God – the God of the Bible – loves. Later, this dear friend was singing the song, Amazing Grace. And when you think about this – friends from Japan to Toledo joining a Chinese Christian conference in Chicago and learning about the love of God through the person of Jesus – it really is amazing grace.
Gospel seeds were planted and it seems like God is bringing little-by-little some growth in their hearts…and ours too. Our hearts were encouraged and renewed to press on to love God and live our lives fully devoted to God. We are strangers and exiles that are temporarily traveling through this world and are calling others to join in worshiping God now and for all eternity. We were challenged from 1 Thessalonians about how the church of God should look and live out faith, hope and love in the midst of this world and we were encouraged as we saw God at work in so many hearts and in so many places.
