Even in our “instant” age of mashed potatoes, HD movies, FaceTime and InstaPot – we are all still waiting for someone or something. Perhaps you are waiting to retire, or perhaps you are waiting for your child to move out and get married? Maybe you are waiting for that new career or a new sale or that new car? Or perhaps you are waiting for a spouse, to finish school, to see a wayward child return to God or your battle with a certain sin to be done?
Reality is, no matter how fast technology improves and moves us through life, we are all still waiting and learning to wait for someone or something. And to be clear, waiting is not a bad thing. The Bible is chalk full of people needing to wait upon God for salvation, deliverance, victory, a land, a promised child and more. Those who faithfully wait on God will never be disappointed.
You see, the question is not, ‘Are you waiting?’ but ‘What or who are you waiting for?’ As we remember this advent about the first coming of Jesus, let us also remember and learn to wait for Jesus and His second return. And as we actively await His return, I want to ask you a question: “How are you helping lead others to eagerly and actively await the second return of Jesus too?”
This season is an opportunity to reach out and love those who are lost and waiting for that which will not satisfy. Instead, as you eagerly wait for the second return of Christ, make the most of this advent season by sharing with others that which is truly worth living and waiting for – Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world! Don’t wait any further to tell others about the first and second coming of Jesus, instead actively wait for Jesus and tell others to get ready for Jesus today.
If you would like to be connected with others who do not know Jesus, I invite you to reach out and I would love to help you connect with many who are ‘waiting’ to hear about Jesus as we remember the first and second coming of Jesus this advent.
