God is always working and He graciously invites us into His work – through children to adults!
Friday before we Easter, we were blessed to have friends over from Malaysia and India. The young man from India is not a Christian but had a lot of good questions after attending the Good Friday service. Questions like: “Why do the people laugh and talk joyfully while gathering together to remember their Savior dying? Shouldn’t you be sad? Why don’t you make a statue of him to honor Jesus? Why do you have an American flag in the front?”
They were great questions and we had a lot of good conversations, weaving the story of Jesus and how God saved us through Christ into our conversations. Later that evening they left and we wouldn’t see them again until that Sunday at our Easter Service.
Then on Easter, one of the children in my eKidz class at Emmanuel Baptist Church gave me a Gospel bracelet that he had made. He is a sweet young boy who is always smiling and very helpful. I put on the bracelet and we finished up the Sunday school class. I said thank you and he left for home and we left for the fellowship hall.
After Sunday school, Emmanuel had a special Easter lunch for international students and some of the families of EBC. During the lunch, that same young man from India sat with us. Though we had a great lunch together, nothing happened worth writing home about until we started cleaning up.
As I reached out to grab some of the plates to throw away, he noticed the bracelet and asked what that was and through that bracelet I was able to share the Gospel. He appreciated hearing about it and seeing some of the connections between Good Friday, Easter Service and the Gospel!
After he left, I smiled thinking how amazing God is to take this Gospel bracelet from a child and use it to share the grand Gospel of God to someone from India.
God is always at work and we should praise Him for it!
P.S. Thank you Mr. E for the bracelet.
