One of the great blessings that we have been able to experience is seeing some of the people receive their first Bible – especially when it is in their native language.
Last week we had a dear student who, despite the rest of the family not wanting a Bible, this student wanted one. She was eager and adamant that she wanted one. And so a student enters one night, having never read a Bible in her language and leaves class having a copy in her very own tongue. We praise the Lord for His work in her heart.
The next class period, as I was talking with 3 students from Latin America, I asked a new student if he ever went to church or had a Bible. He said he was Catholic, however due to the short time and language limitations, I was unsure what that full meant or how much he actually knew.
So I asked him if he wanted a Spanish Bible and he said Yes. I went down the hall, got him a Spanish Bible and head back. As I came back, another Spanish speaking student was sitting nearby. “What is that?” He asked. The other student replied that it was a Spanish Bible. So I asked the next student if he wanted one – “Of course!” he said. Back down the hall I went and grabbed another Spanish Bible.
As I came back, a third Spanish speaking student was sitting there as I gave the Spanish Bible to the second student that had joined. “Hey,” said the third student, “Let me see that. What is that?” The second student handed the Spanish Bible over and opened it and began to read.
“Do you want one too?” I asked the third student. Smiling, he said yes.
While the came for English class, they left with a Spanish Bible! Praise God and pray that God continues to work in their hearts and open their minds to understand and see the Glory of God in His Word.
