The other day I was thinking about what I could do special for my Basic Level and Level 2 students and then thought about trying to go see The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium lights. Mentally, I thought we might be able to get a discount with taking 15-20 students. So I called the zoo and was kindly told that there is a group discount, however there might be another option I could try to get free tickets for my class.
I was forwarded to the kind voice of a Toledo Zoo staff member.
I left a message.
No response.
I called, left a message but still no response.
Again. No response
Again. No response.
I began to pray that God would open an opportunity for us to go.
Then the call came! After informing the staff member, I shocked to find out that the zoo has a program that actually provides tickets for free to certain kid’s groups via a sponsorship program from local area businesses. “How many tickets would you like?” She asked.
I paused, well…”Could we have 20-25 tickets?” I asked.
“Absolutely!” She said, “So what else does your organization do?”
So I shared with her about our different programs, the challenges of internationals and how this might be the first time for many of these internationals to go to the Zoo Lights. “Well,” she continued, “We actually have groups request up to 100 tickets – would you like a 100?”
I was stunned. I was thinking that perhaps a discount for 18-20 tickets at first and now God had provided 100 – one-hundred – tickets to the Zoo Lights for free.
How great and good our God is. And so, on 12-19, a 100+ WFI students, staff and volunteers will be heading to The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium lights. While seeing the lights will be a wonderful blessing, it will be exciting to see student’s family members come that we normally wouldn’t get to interact with.
Praise God and please pray for God to work through these lights to reveal the Light of Christ.
