ESL’s New Door for the Gospel

God calls us to serve Him – wherever we are, whatever we do – we are to serve Him. We thank God for opening up a potential new door in Bowling Green, Ohio that we might build cross-cultural relationships in order to provide quality ESL classes while also building bridges to love others and share the Good News.

Through a friend of a friend at the Toledo Chinese Alliance Church, we have been working through the details to begin on-site ESL classes at a company in the BG area for some of their international employees. Though we are unsure how long this opportunity will be open to us, we want to make the most of it. Perhaps God will open further doors to provide on-site ESL training in Toledo too.

For now, though, we would appreciate your prayers for God to bless this opportunity, to open the door to long-term relationships and give us boldness to demonstrate through our words and actions the love and message of Christ.

We have also been blessed to have a new partner join us in this endeavor and are excited to see God build new relationships and experience how God is at work in so many places and in so many different hearts. One of the lessons we are learning through this is that the more God expands our relational network outside our local church, the more we catch a glimpse of God’s global work. Sometimes we distance ourselves from this broader view of God’s work by limiting ourselves to those “just like us.” Unfortunately, it can be tempting to make the non-essentials the essentials and thereby limit those we work with and reach out to.

So we would like to encourage you, do not give any wiggle room on the essentials of the Christian faith, but in the non-essentials take a step forward in the lives of those around you and you might be encouraged to see that God is at work using sinners made saints, just like us.

Three months ago, this opportunity did not exist and now it will begin to take place this week. Praise God!
